Cleanse intends to solve the river quality in Galt to protect the surrounding ecosystem in the area as well as to create an engaging space for residents of the town while preserving the town’s industrial personality. This led to the incorporation of three main components: the reincorporation of the power station, preservation of aquatic species and addressing water quality.

The proposed power station would generate enough power for over 500 homes in the Galt area, while also incorporating a sophisticated heat recovery system that would efficiently recycle energy onto the boiling mechanism of the crystallization process for the water treatment. The newly cleansed water would then be used as a new public amenity for Galt: a bath house that sequences into a landscape cooling system leading the cooled water back into the river as temperature is critical for two threatened aquatic species in the area: the Black Redhorse and the Silver Shiner.
