Convergent Rows

Built in a park recently reclaimed by the Six Nations, Convergent Rows is a project about forced dichotomies between people, land, and water, and constructed and “natural”. 

This project brings the river into the land and shapes the land in the form of river waves. The flooding is limited to the fingers created from troughs and gives greater dimension to the land by distributing the soil above. The project consists of the land forming, the boardwalk and platforms, and the boathouse. The platform is divided in two halves, with an ankle height divider in between. The divider disappears at points of intersection and the platforms, which become spaces of connection.

Convergent Rows harmonizes the natural formation of the land, affirms the hopes of the 2-row wampum, and promotes soil and river health alongside community engagement.
