As a stage for a play, a play that depicts moments of life in different cultures. Both the performers and spectators are the York University students with their large range of ethnicities, cultures and traditions. By putting various moments of their lives on stage, this project aims to celebrate and expose these diverse cultures, which I believe will contribute to social cohesion.

A colosseum theatre is placed in the middle, which allows it to be viewed by all residents. It can be the stage for small concerts, speeches and dances. The everyday life of residents becomes a type of cultural performance. The public life, like cooking, studying and reading is exposed to all residents through the “performing façade”. The more private aspects of life are staged through the “exhibiting facade”. Exposed stairs link all the spaces and the plays happening within them. They everyday journey of walking to and from one’s home becomes a theatrical experience.
