Project Date

This following project proposes an Inuit academic experience that treats post-secondary programs as journeys that extend to outdoor sources and domains of knowledge on land, in the environment and with the community. Inuit education incorporates a process of life-long learning, experienced in both formal settings through schooling and informal settings, such as on the land. This curriculum aims to incorporate Inuit values in its academic programs by giving students an opportunity to engage in hands-on Inuit subsistence activities, survival skills and land-use, while completing their post-secondary diploma. Each two-year program will allow students to learn as they journey to the three academic satellites beyond the central campus in Kuujjuaq. Routes to each academic satellite incorporate academic modules where students will engage in activities depending on their courses and the season. By learning on the land, students will continue advancing their knowledge of Inuit culture and traditional skill, while completing a college degree.
