Project Date

The first phase of this project (a student housing master plan) proposes a porous fabric, where both residents and visitors are encouraged to meander through and interact with built forms while encountering unexpected social opportunities. As the second phase, “SPLIT” further develops an urban corner of the master plan in the same spirit. It creates a re-imagined student housing where inhabitants are emancipated from the present-day monotonous urban identity. Here, the freedom of movement is pronounced over the separation between programs. The private section (only available to residents with authorization) is split from the ground level, creating a new public realm with maximal permeability and minimal presence of boundaries. A decentralized and non-hierarchical configuration of programs allows urban nomads to pass through a wide range of activities, and always kept keen for future expeditions.
