York Commons is a student residence located inside the York University that focuses on the central multifunctional podium along with the stretch of two amenities wings. It consists of two residential towers above the U-shaped amenities podium at the lower floors with a west wing that leans more toward arts and music and the east wing that leans more toward physical activities. The purpose of having a hybrid integrated mixed used space in the centre is to enhance the community engagement within the student residence where students with different faculties can meet each other in the centre as they use the collective dining space throughout the day. The major architectural movement is the featured stairs that connect the two residential towers above and it leads the residences toward the collective dining space to provide a strong college type student residence atmosphere.
